Origin

Writing for businesses with something specific to say.

Sovereign Copywriter opened in Carnaxide in 2020. The studio sits in the Oeiras tech corridor that runs between Belem and the Tagus north bank, which is where most of our clients are building their businesses.

We write for companies that have a specific commercial objective and need words to support it. Not content in the broadcast sense, but copy written for the person reading it and the action they are being asked to take.

Every project starts with a brief, is scoped in writing, and ends with files in the agreed format. European Portuguese and English are both native outputs. All services are delivered digitally.

The studio writes in English and European Portuguese as first-language outputs. Translation is not the same thing as copy written natively in the target language. Clients who need both languages get both written, not one translated from the other.

Every project begins with a brief, is scoped in writing, and ends with files in the agreed format. No invoices are issued until the brief is confirmed. Work does not start until payment is received. These are not unusual conditions; they are good practice on both sides.

How we think about copy.

Research first

Copy written from research produces different outcomes to copy written from instinct. The research is not complicated but it cannot be skipped. Audience language, competitive claims, existing content: reading all of it first changes what gets written.

Scope over ambition

An undefined scope is a disagreement waiting to happen. Every project is scoped in writing before work starts, so both sides know exactly what is being produced, what is not, and what additional work looks like if needed.

Clarity over cleverness

Clever copy that confuses outperforms nothing. The reader should understand the message before the page ends, not work to decode it. Every word earns its place or it comes out.
